"Rollin'! Rollin'! Rollin' down the river...."

A little Proud Mary for Derek on his birthday. Happy Birthday Daddy!  But also to celebrate another milestone!  Aubry started rolling over yesterday afternoon! yea!  She's done it once or twice before, but I think on accident.  Yesterday she did it about 5 times in a row! Just from tummy to back, but probably won't be long till she goes the other way too!

Then & Now

Last week I finally worked up the nerve to take the headrest out of Aubry's carseat.  She's had great head control for a while now but it's just hard to keep letting go of things like this and admit that she's just growing up so fast! It was starting to be a pretty tight fit in there, so I took it out.  So here's a little "Then & Now" comparison of Aubry on her first trip in her carseat (besides coming home from the hospital) at 4 days old, and the shot I took last week.  Crazy how much she's grown huh!

Dooms Day

Ok so that might be a slight exaggeration; but the day I've been dreading for the past 4 months, 2 weeks and 1 day came on Monday - Aubry's first day at daycare.  (And therefore of course my first day back to work full time, yuck)  So I sought out some solace is the best place I could think of - Facebook. ;) I got several words of encouragement - "it's always harder for you than the baby", "she'll make new friends", yes all true.  Doesn't change the fact that I teared up on the way to work after we dropped her off. shhh don't tell anybody.  The room just seemed so...sterile. Kind of like a hospital waiting room or something.  Just enough space in the room for a small crib for each child and some swings & jumpers set up in the middle.  I'm like "there's not even a place for them to lay out on a blanket or anything!" Probably necessary to keep the little ones already crawling out of trouble and in the room, but still.  I did call once, only once, to check on her around 10 a.m. (Derek made me!....) and they tell me she scratched herself under her left eye! What?!?! A scratch!?!? Said she was crying so hard her face was red and I guess she scratched herself in all her fussiness.  "She was hungry" Oh yeah, probably should have warned y'all about that.  When she's ready to eat, she's ready to eat; Like NOW!  Of course when we picked her up (after leaving work about an hour early because I couldn't stand it anymore) she was happily playing in a little jumper, but soooo happy to see us.  And of course the scratch wasn't really all that bad.  But now they know. :)  But the next day we took her a play gym to set up in her bed and left one of her blankets and a little toy to make it more of her own little space. I, in turn, did much better on day 2.

Merry Christmas!

Well Aubry's First Christmas has come and gone already - I can hardly believe it!  She played with her Santa gift for a few minutes while we loaded the car, then it was off to Grandma Sue & Grandpa Jim's house in Katy for Christmas morning!  After a delicious breakfast and tons of presents we headed out to Eagle Lake for Christmas with Grandma Sue's side of the family.  We had lots of fun & lots of food!  When we left there we then headed back to Deer Park to Derek's dads house for more presents!  It was definitely a long day but a great 1st Christmas with our precious little girl.

4 month Update!

Aubry had her 4 month check up on the 23rd!  She weighed in at 12 lbs 9 oz and 24" long.  Had another round of vaccinations and took them like a champ! She's a tough little girl.  Dr. also gave us the go-ahead to start giving her a little rice cereal every day to help her practice with the spoon and swallowing before she starts solids at 6 months! After the appointment we met up with Derek's family to take pictures and even though she had just gotten her shots and hadn't slept much, Aubry did so good!


So a lot has changed since Aubry's 2 month update - she's laughing all the time now, it's amazing.  She's also trying to figure out the motorboat thing with her mouth - she usually ends up mostly just spitting all over herself, but it's so adorable to watch.  We have always done the motorboat thing when we got out the camera to make her smile, so now every time we get the camera out she does it cause that's what we've always done! And man she is talking up a storm.  She'll just talk and talk and talk.  She must get that from her grandma and Aunt Amy. :)  We're also learning to sit up.  She doesn't sit up by herself yet but she's good in the bumbo and by herself if we support her a little!


I'm sure I'm forgetting a ton of stuff - but there's just so much that has happened!  We of course celebrated Aubry's 1st Halloween and Thanksgiving which I've already posted some pictures of.  Here are some other pics from the past 2 months! Enjoy!

My first experience with rice cereal! I know it looks like I didn't like it at all - but I was just so hungry - this cereal stuff isn't fast enough for me! But I ate it all! yum!
